JD.com has launched the "Aidol Creation Camp," a global incubator program designed to find and fund the next generation of AI-powered smart hardware. The program is specifically looking for "Agentic Hardware"—devices that use local LLMs to provide proactive services, from intelligent home appliances to wearable health monitors.

Participants in the camp will receive access to JD’s massive logistics network, proprietary AI development platforms, and up to $10 million in early-stage funding. The goal is to move beyond "passive" smart home devices (like smart bulbs) toward "active" devices that can anticipate user needs and coordinate with other hardware in the ecosystem.

JD.com believes that the future of retail is "Hardware-as-a-Service," where AI devices act as the primary interface for shopping and household management. The "Aidol" initiative is a strategic move to secure JD’s position at the center of the emerging "AI-of-Things" (AIoT) economy.
