Douyin E-commerce has launched a special enforcement campaign targeting live streaming fraud, particularly scams involving fake “AI tool gifting,” misleading product claims, and fabricated host identities.

The platform identified widespread violations during routine monitoring: some hosts falsely advertise high-yield AI courses, lure users to purchase them, then redirect transactions to third-party platforms—bypassing Douyin’s safeguards. Others misrepresent cheap materials as gold or platinum, or invent elite personal backgrounds to promote overpriced or worthless products.

In response, Douyin has imposed strict penalties, including live stream interruptions, settlement delays, account bans, and suspension of broadcasting rights.

The crackdown aims to ensure transaction transparency, protect consumers, and uphold a trustworthy marketplace. Douyin will also publish real-case examples and compliance guidelines to help merchants and hosts follow the rules.

The platform urges all sellers to operate with integrity: “Honesty is the foundation of long-term success. Only by rejecting false advertising and manipulative tactics can we build a healthy ecosystem for everyone.”
