According to internal sources, the general-purpose AI assistant "Lingguang" became an instant hit upon launch, requiring eight emergency rounds of capacity expansion within just three days—primarily to support its standout feature, "Lingguang Instant Apps."
Developed by Ant Group, Lingguang is a multimodal general-purpose AI assistant officially launched on November 18. At debut, it introduced three core features: "Lingguang Chat," "Lingguang Instant Apps," and "Lingguang Vision." Its popularity stems largely from the "Instant Apps" capability, which empowers any user to effortlessly create their own applications—a concept described as “anyone can build an app with their bare hands.”
The overwhelming response to Lingguang has far exceeded expectations: it surpassed 200,000 downloads on day one, with momentum continuing to build. By November 21, it climbed to No. 6 on the App Store China overall Free chart and claimed the No. 1 spot in the Free Utilities category, emerging as the most impressive general-purpose AI assistant of late 2025.
