Samsung "Jinju" Smart Glasses Challenge Meta Ray-Ban

Leaks from within Samsung’s supply chain have provided the first detailed look at the company’s upcoming smart glasses, codenamed "Jinju." Designed as a direct competitor to the successful Meta Ray-Ban series, the Jinju glasses prioritize a sleek, "Everyday Wear" aesthetic over the bulkier designs of traditional AR headsets.

The glasses are reportedly equipped with dual 12MP cameras and a multi-microphone array for high-fidelity audio capture and voice interaction. Most importantly, the Jinju series will run on the new Android XR platform and feature deep integration with Google Gemini, allowing users to ask questions about the objects and landmarks they see in real-time through "Visual Question Answering" (VQA).

While the initial "Jinju" model will lack a built-in display to maintain a competitive price point (estimated between $379 and $499), a more premium version with a micro-LED display is expected in 2027. Samsung is betting that the integration of powerful AI into a familiar form factor will finally make smart glasses a mainstream consumer success.
