OpenAI recently launched a new feature called "Format Blocks," which automatically adjusts the UI layout to adapt ChatGPT's interface for specific tasks, significantly enhancing the content creation experience.
Previously, when drafting emails or blog posts, ChatGPT could only display content in standard chat bubbles, offering a relatively limited user experience. The newly introduced "format box" essentially functions as a mini editor toolbar. It automatically appears when users highlight text in new rich-text areas, such as email or writing drafts. This means ChatGPT no longer treats generated content as plain chat history but presents it as a directly editable, formatted document. Users can now instantly adjust and polish drafts just as they would in Word or Gmail.
Currently, this feature is being gradually rolled out in a limited beta. OpenAI aims to make generative AI outputs seamlessly integrate with real-world application scenarios through this more intuitive UI change. It is reported that support for additional document formats will be added in the future.
