ByteDance’s Volcano Engine has announced a major milestone in the automotive sector, with its Doubao large model now integrated into over 7 million vehicles. This makes it one of the most widely deployed in-car AI systems in the world, providing intelligent cockpit services to a vast range of electric and traditional car brands.
To further this momentum, Volcano Engine has entered into a strategic partnership with Dongfeng Motor to co-develop a new generation of "AI Cars." These vehicles will feature advanced "Agentic Cockpits" that can understand complex passenger intents, such as "Find a quiet park with a charging station nearby and suggest a podcast for the drive."
The Doubao model’s success is attributed to its low-latency performance and high reliability in mobile environments. As cars transition from simple transportation to mobile living spaces, Volcano Engine is betting that the quality of the "Digital Experience" will become the primary differentiator for consumers. The company plans to expand its automotive AI suite to include gesture control and emotion-aware interior lighting by late 2026.
